A CERTAIN FALL
Screenplay by Robert W. Chapman - based on his novel.
~Evil is not the opposite of love; evil is the absence of love.~

A Certain Fall – the movie:

In rural Maine, young Jenny Merchant and her brother, Harry, find themselves growing up in a family that is self destructing. Maneuvering and surviving the abuse and brutal indifference of the adults around them, the siblings manage to make it to adulthood. Now, the paradoxical disconnect from each other, and the unrelenting grief for a childhood lost, leaves them in life and death situations that have followed them through what they thought they had survived. One of them will find, but not easily trust: love, friendship, and forgiveness that may be life-saving … the other will not.

There can be no greater betrayal than the betrayal of a child by their own parent.

Acclaim for A Certain Fall, the book:

“Chapman’s ability to develop powerful characters and use vividly lifelike descriptions may have readers placing A Certain Fall on their shelves alongside the books of another such talented New England author—John Irving.” Mark Chag, Book Review, Advertiser-Democrat

“I was completely captured…staggered by the power of the story and the beauty of the writing. This is a wonderful, moving book!” Ellen Crosby, LCSW

A Certain Fall allows for the serious consideration of an often overlooked element (of healing)—spirituality . By doing so (Chapman) invites us to consider the value and importance of this element in the healing process. What a gift he has.” Dr. Amy D. Ouellette, M.D.
