Adam Rench is a producer and director of short films in Northern Illinois. He currently lives in Spring Grove, IL. Born in 1977, he has started his filmmaking career later than most, but his passion may be even greater than most that follow the typical path.

Adam has only been making films for the past few years, however even though he had a late start, his passion for filmmaking has made up for his tardiness. Living in the Chicago area is a great place to start a film career, but Adam lives in Spring Grove, which is roughly an hour and a half away from the Windy City. Because of this, his choice of crew members was greatly restricted. In order to make his films, he needed to learn the art of producing, casting, directing, cinematography, audio recording, script writing, budgeting, scheduling, editing, DVD creation, and the list goes on and on. He is not a master at any of these, but knows how to do all of them. He has chosen to be director and producer of his own movies and has taught whoever would be his crew how to perform the other duties.

Adam was always interested in film, but never thought he could actually make one. That was until the digital video revolution occurred. Digital Video enabled thousands of filmmakers, who would not have had the money to film a typical movie, to make films for much less money. Adam took advantage of this, purchased a nice digital video camera geared towards filming motion pictures, and has started making short films. His first film was done using his friends and family as crew and cast and a local donation of a bar for the bar scene. Adam wants the community involved with his films, and his next film is no exception.

Adam’s mission to get the community involved coincides with his recent acceptance to be the director of the Chicago chapter of the Film Co-op. The Film Co-op is an organization started in Los Angeles, but has recently branched out into the Chicagoland area. The group had been created so that local filmmakers can pool their talents and equipment together so that whoever joins can have the opportunity to make the best possible short film that they can. Adam had inquired about some advice and it came back from one of the founding members of the LA Film Co-op and eventually led to Adam starting the Chicago chapter. The group is young, but as it grows, so will the opportunity that so many filmmakers dreamed of having.
